John received his award for 40 years service to scouting tonight. During that time, he has officially been: assistant scout leader, scout leader, district scout leader, assistant district commissioner, district nights away adviser, district appointments advisory committee member, group supporter, sectional assistant... plus unofficially. he has been chief fundraiser, quartermaster, caretaker, builder, adviser and very very dear friend.

This a picture from almost every year from 1969 when he joined to this year... and he still hasn't finished the hut so he ain't going nowhere.
